Water treatment cadet

Are you looking for an opportunity to learn and grow in a busy role with variety, responsibility and the opportunity to tackle technical problems?
Do you want to work in a challenging, consumer-focussed environment?
If so, we might have just the role for you!
The South Taranaki District Council operates a large number of modern water treatment plants and facilities. Due to the need for an additional skilled technician, we are seeking to employ an individual with a real can-do attitude and genuine interest in the water industry to join Council's Water Treatment Team.
The Water Treatment Cadet position will suit someone who is keen to learn, is adaptable, has a good grasp of modern technology such as computers and instrumentation and is capable of dealing with a wide variety of operating or process systems. Although not essential, some hands-on experience in process plant operation could be an advantage.
The Council is committed to a training and development programme to achieve the National Certificate in Water Treatment and Diploma qualification for all its technicians, so this is your opportunity to earn while you learn.
You must be willing to work flexible hours with a minimum of forty hours per week and participate in a roster system which involves monitoring and call-outs after hours. In return for this level of commitment, an attractive remuneration package is offered.
Applicants for this position must have NZ residency or hold a valid NZ work visa. In terms of residence class visa applications, priority will be given where the applicant is in New Zealand.
The South Taranaki District Council (STDC) offers a proven "Best Place to Work" environment and the chance to join an energetic and progressive workplace. We employ people with a can-do attitude who want to work for a united organisation with a strong sense of family that is proud to serve its communities.
